Dan Hebert is the special advisor to the Director General of Communications at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). He is also currently leading the CRA’s efforts to adopt of generative AI as a communication tool and leads the government-wide community of practice on using generative AI in communications through the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s Communications Community Office.
Prior to this posting, he spent several years as the Director of Communications for the CRA’s Atlantic Region where he led the regional communications team to provide effective public affairs and issues management advice, as well as products and services to clients within the Atlantic region.
Dan joined the federal public service in 2009 and has worked at multiple agencies including Public Services and Procurement Canada, Shared Services Canada and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. Since joining the Canada Revenue Agency in 2016, he has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Public Affairs Branch, most recently as the Assistant Director in charge of communications to small and medium businesses and for the T1 program, one of the largest annual communications campaigns in the federal government.
Dan has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, and both a Masters and Bachelors in English Literature from the University of Alberta and University of Winnipeg, respectively.
In his spare time, Dan loves spending time traveling with his wife, Kirsteen, and two children. He also enjoys reading, swimming, biking and running.
