Dynamic Decks & Powerful Presentations (G053)

Workshops > Government > Complete List > Dynamic

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

A highly interactive daylong session for anyone who wants to learn or upgrade their ability to develop decks and presentations. Students are introduced to a wealth of tips, tools, templates and techniques they can put to use immediately. Exercises conducted throughout the day are designed to help participants build strategic thinking, planning and writing skills. Students also script and deliver a five-minute presentation and receive feedback from the instructor.

Anyone who writes, contributes to, manages or delivers presentations will benefit from attending Presenting with Precision.

Workshop leader Wendy Cherwinski infuses subject material with stories, anecdotes and examples drawn from real life assignments. Learning is reinforced by a slide show, video excerpts and exercises that allow participants to try out the concepts they have just learned.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their own computers and copies of presentations they are currently working on for use during exercises.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

During the daylong session, participants cover how to:

  • Conduct research to determine listeners’ needs for information
  • Combine logical arguments and elements of persuasion
  • Set a clear objective and use it to choose the best content
  • Use templates and flow structures to speed up preparation and help the audience follow arguments;
  • Expand or cut a presentation to suit different audiences and circumstances while still getting the salient points across.
  • Create simple, attractive visuals that reinforce key points
  • Use PowerPoint features to smooth the presentation flow.
